NOT ANOTHER WATERSHED MOMENT!

NOT ANOTHER WATERSHED MOMENT!

Remember NaNoWriMo? November I started writing a book and I shared with you how joining in with many other authors all working towards a similar goal (writing 50 000 words in the month of November) was so helpful. Well, I'm now part of a writing mastermind group and together we are working through the process of writing a book, from conception to published. To say I am excited is an understatement. I sat down this morning and started typing and when I lifted my head I had 2000 words all neatly lined up.

It's not all rainbows and roses though. I am facing a bit of a dilemma. I have so many ideas it's hard to know which book I should be writing. Whether I should finish what I started last year, or focus on the book that will serve my business. The former will be such a great experience for me at a personal level, the latter will help build our brand and add gravitas. The former is raw and the latter light hearted. It's actually a really tough choice.

I'm not a stranger to this kind of mental tussle. It feels like every day I have a new idea either in a creative sphere or to further our business success. It taken me some time to develop a system that helps me navigate the overwhelm. More often than not I let things bubble along rather than discarding ideas straight away or even worse, try to dampen my creativity. I give them all a chance, but do not allow myself to become too invested in the early stages. I find that way my mind can work at things in the background and the problem solving techniques I have developed though walk and talk, brainstorming and writing will sort out the wheat from the chaff.

So in preparation for our mastermind tonight I have prepared a synopsis for both book ideas. I do realise that at some point I will have to make a choice, but for now at least they both have life. Let's see what happens next.
